Jurassic adventures
A quick post to share Jurassic adventures to start the New Year. The stillest of air, great decision making and great music...
First stop Kimmeridge Bay and then Man O' War Bay & Durdle Door.
Water Pipits darting along the cliffs at Kimmeridge, waterfalls, fossils, 'sea monsters' and fascinating rock formations, rock pools and shells. The tide went out while we walked and more and more of the beach was revealed. The air was cold but so still we soon warmed up in the sun. Delicious soup for lunch and very enjoyable visit to the Etches Collection to see the Pliosaur and more.
Then onto Man O' War Bay. This is such a special beach, a group of us came here a lot as teenagers with many of us beginning our love of it on a school Geography trip. The beach sound here is so lovely with a slight hollowness in the pebbles under your tread and the lapping of the waves rippling around and echoing from the cliffs behind. The cliffs are of course very special all along this coastline and I always think the pebbles look like treasure themselves. It was a last minute decision to add this to our day (those decisions can be the absolute best though right) and it was perfect. We had the beach to ourselves and watched the sun setting beyond Portland Bill.
Perfect end to the day as we drove home listening to great tunes, watching the Moon with Venus and Saturn in the sky racing alongside her.
Got to be one of the best ways to start January. Hopefully lots more adventures to come this year.
