Full Moon Drawings 2025

January Full Moon.

So I hadn't made a decision about 'rules' for this year, which is why I am today sharing this little collection of paintings and drawings which came into being last night.  I often start with a set parameter for materials or paper but perhaps this year there aren't any rules, just to keep the appointment and experiment, so it's about spontaneity which feels good.

(That said, I am a little drawn to the book which is heavy cartridge paper painted with Quink, a white goauche moon painted on one of it's pages, as well as the watercolour moon on the postcard. Perhaps these will work in partnership this year.)

It was a good evening to get lost in mark making, felt intuitive and present. Frequently looking outside for glimpses of the Moon and Mars through the clouds. Finally rewarded with a moment stood in the garden when it felt like the moving clouds paused to let the moonlight through and that dizzying feeling looking up, feeling the moon and cloud to be so low and close, and yet so far away. Something wonderful about that scale.
