Beachside landscapes

So guess who's been spending time at the beach... I've had some canvas ideas ideas for a while now and this week managed to get some time to spend on them but not before a day on the beach yesterday (had to be done!) so of course that's where my thoughts and paintbrush naturally led me.  I've been thinking about this piece since our trip to Cornwall last autumn and I have to confess to some serious blank canvas complex.  It was only today that I realised it had to be in portrait and it made me feel good to use that kind of reach. I've been thinking a lot this year about being in a landscape that dwarfs you and how that makes me feel and today painting this made me feel good.
